Synctegral specialises in integrating drone data, enterprise systems and advanced analytics platforms. Our work connects UAV and drone data streams with leading big data, business intelligence and enterprise platforms, including Google BigQuery, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, SAP S/4HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud.

The company is also developing its proprietary DroneOps management platform, designed to support drone operations, mission planning, compliance tracking, operational risk assessment, analytics and enterprise reporting.

Drone Data and BigQuery Population Density Analysis

As part of Synctegral’s DroneOps innovation program, we developed a geospatial analytics solution to support UAV flight-path risk assessment for SORA / CASA-style regulatory applications.

The business challenge is that UAV operators in Australia must assess ground risk when planning drone operations, particularly for BVLOS and higher-risk missions. This requires understanding how a proposed drone route interacts with population-density areas and operational environments.

Synctegral designed a Google BigQuery-based geospatial data model that connects Australian Bureau of Statistics population-density and statistical geography data with UAV flight-path coordinates. Rather than relying on generic density assumptions, the solution uses structured ABS datasets and geospatial logic to assess population exposure along a proposed drone route.

The BigQuery logic compares drone route points against statistical geography and population-density layers, calculates the relevant population-density category for each segment of the route, and supports identification of the applicable CASA / SORA risk-assessment information required for operational planning and approval pathways.

The analytical outputs were visualised in SAP Analytics Cloud through an interactive dashboard and story. This allowed stakeholders to clearly see how drone flight paths intersect with population-density areas and how those intersections may influence operational risk assessment, compliance planning and regulatory decision-making.

This capability forms part of the broader Synctegral DroneOps platform vision, supporting drone mission management, compliance, operational analytics and enterprise reporting.

Synctegral’s drone data and analytics work was presented at SAP TechEd DemoJam in Bangalore, where the project contributed to winning Bronze in the global competition.
